With many States and Territories around Australia soon to return to competitive games, incorporating advantage/disadvantage drills into your practice is a valuable to help players regain their skills in this important area.

As part of the daily training environment, the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence Women’s Program incorporate a series of 2 v 1 and 3 v 2 drills into their practice plans to assist develop skill and understanding and expand the athletes’ decision making.

These adaptive drills allow for the development of –

  • Passing and catching skills
  • Decision making
  • Contested finishing
  • Shot selection
  • Reading of the defence
  • Defensive decision making

With many athletes in some of the eastern states coming off an extended of lock down and time away from the basketball, these drills are also valuable in slowly returning players to the competitive environment without going straight into 5 v 5.

Thanks for BA Centre of Excellence Women’s program assistant coach Sarah Graham for putting this clip together and sharing.
