Coach EOI for Gems and Emus

Posted on Oct 09 2021

Basketball Australia is calling for Expressions of Interests for the coaching staffs of the Australian Under 19 Women’s and Men’s team for the next World Championship cycle.

The Gems and Emus have a proud tradition of success on the international stage and both programs provide valuable pathways to the Opals and Boomers.

In the last two FIBA World Cups, the Gems have claimed silver medals, including a successful tournament in Hungary last July. The Emus program has been an important stepping stone for many Boomers, including current Olympic team captain Patty Mills.

The two programs will attempt to qualify for the 2023 FIBA Under 19 World Cups, with the first port of call claiming a top two finish at the 2022 FIBA Oceania U17 Tournament and then a top four finish at the FIBA Asia U18 event.

Visit the Basketball Australia web-site employment section to find out more about these important positions and how you can express interest in getting involved.

All applicants will require to possess a current Basketball Australia Association Coach level accreditation as a minimum.
