National Coaches Support Coach Development

As part of an ongoing commitment to impacting coach development nationally, a number of coaches from the Australian national teams have presented clinics throughout the country in 2022 to play their part in supporting coaches.

Coaches from both Opals and Boomers have presented clinics, along with members of the junior national team coaching panel. These clinics have all been free and open to coaches of all levels of experience and with the associated clinic videos on-line, thousands of Australian coaches have benefitted.

Add to that clinics presented by some of BA Centre of Excellence and there are hours of presentations available on-line for coaches to continually work on their craft and add to their knowledge base.

This series of clinics started in June with Australian Boomers assistant coaches Mike Kelly,  John Rillie and Kerry Williams presenting clinics for 230 coaches in Melbourne, covering a raft of topics.

Australian Under 19 assistant coach Kristen Veal presented on drills and concepts to make practice more game like in a clinic in Perth, while Opals assistant coach Paul Goriss recently talked offensive principles of play in Sydney.

Centre of Excellence Women’s program assistant coach Sarah Graham spoke skill and concept development with Basketball Tasmania coaches, while COE Men’s assistant Ash Arnott talked decision making drills with coaches in Queanbeyan.

Adelaide 36ers and Australian Boomers assistant coach Jamie Pearlman presented a series of drills to improve decision making and managing the big and small advantage as part of the Boomers qualifying window in Bendigo.

Add to these the host of clinics presented and shared  by state and territory associations in 2022 and there are more than 25 clinics available on this site for coaches to learn more about a host of areas of the game.
