Basketball Australia in partnership with etrainu are excited to launch two new online Coach education options today to add to the existing Aussie Hoops and Community Online Coaching Courses.
The free online Community Coaching Course and Aussie Hoops Coach course were launched in May 2022 and have seen over 3000 new coaches register to improve themselves, the experience for their team and basketball in Australia in general.
These two new courses will continue to support this development in partnership with all the States and Territories.
First off is a total refresh of the online Club Coach Course content. 6 brand new modules full of videos recorded all over the country are now ready for coaches who sign up through their State link which can be completed prior to attending a practical session to gain the full accreditation. The practical sessions can be booked through the etrainu platform under the training event menu and prospective club coaches will be able to search for courses near them geographically on dates that suit them as they are created by State and Territory Coach Development Departments. Queensland coaches will continue to use the OG Coach system for their registrations but will still be able to access the new theory content through that access point.
Secondly as the Aussie Hoops program continues to boom we want to continue to support the leaders and administrators of those programs and have developed an Accreditation titled, Aussie Hoops Leader which can be purchased directly through the EtrainU website at the links on the attached page.

Coming next month will also see the launch of the Sporting Schools Teacher Accreditation to better grow our fantastic games in classrooms up and down the country. This will be available to all schools and teachers Australia wide.
Executive GM of Basketball, Paul Maley is excited to create more opportunities for coaches all over the country. “Basketball Australia have worked hard to develop online resources for the education, development and accreditation of basketball coaches nationally,” said Maley. “The etrainu platform provides basketball coaches all over the country with an engaging and easy-to-use suite of courses and content. “We are committed to creating more opportunities, and making them more accessible, for the many thousands of committed coaches and volunteers across the country.”
Community Coach Development Manager, Neil Gray believes in the importance of diversity within the coaching ranks for the continued growth of the game. “ The feedback we have received from coaches all over the country has been fantastic and in the sessions I have delivered I have been able to hear the feedback from parents coaching their children, young athletes wanting to give back, people who love basketball but had always been to scared to turn up to a coaching course and many more,” Gray said.
“Our coaching group is so diverse and so important to the continued growth of the game. Our Basketball Australia coaches are giving up their time every week to support their players and we want to continue to provide them with access to the most up to date resources we can, in a way they can access with minimum barriers.”
