As part of the ongoing commitment to coach development, Basketball South Australia held a clinic in December featuring three experienced coaches and coach developers. Coach Mel Downer was one of these outstanding presenters and spoke about the “tagging up” defensive transition system.
Coach Downer is currently the High Performance Manager for South Australia Country Basketball and has vast experience in elite player development across numerous roles, including a time at the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence as an assistant coach.
Currently an assistant coach with the New Zealand Tall Ferns, Coach takes us through her “tagging up” defensive transition system and key teaching points for building for defensive transition.
