Junior National Team Coaching Opportunities

Basketball Australia is calling for Expressions of Interest from suitably qualified coaches for a number of positions within the Junior National Teams program.

  • Assistant Coach (2 positions) Australian Under 18 Women
  • Assistant Coach (2 positions) Australian Under 18 Men
  • Head Coach Australian Under 15 Women
  • Head Coach Australian Under 15 Men
  • Assistant Coach (2 positions) Australian Under 15 Women
  • Assistant Coach (2 positions) Australian Under 15 Men

Information for Coaches – Australian Under 18 Teams

The 2024 FIBA Asia Under 18 Cup will be held –

  • Women – June 24 – 30, Shenzen, China
  • Men – September 2-9, Amman, Jordan

The Women’s team will be coached by Kristen Veal and the men’s team will be led by Robbie McKinlay. These appointments were made prior to the 2023 FIBA Asia Under 17 Championships.

Desired skills and experience –

  • Current Basketball Australia Association Coach accreditation
  • Experience as a head coach at an Australian Junior Championships
  • Actively coaching at the NBL1 or State League level OR within a state association run junior or school competition
  • Working knowledge of video editing software
  • Experience in the Basketball Australia performance pathway
  • A current Working with Vulnerable People clearance (or state equivalent) is essential

EOI’s will be reviewed by a panel including the respective head coaches, the Basketball Australia EGM of High Performance and a BA Master Coach.

Information for Coaches – Australia Under 15 Teams

The 2024 FIBA Oceania Under 15 Championships will be held in November/December at a date and venue to be confirmed.

  • Experience as a head coach at an Australian Junior Championships

EOI’s will be reviewed by a panel including the Basketball Australia EGM of High Performance, COE Head Coaches and a BA Master Coach. In submitting an EOI, candidates should clearly state which role they are interested in.
