Posted on Apr 19 2023

Former NBL, NBA, EuroLeague and Boomers star Nathan Jawai will be a special guest at the Basketball Australia National Coaches Conference May 1 and 2 at the Australian Institute of Sport.

The first indigenous Australian to be drafted to the NBA, Jawai forged an outstanding professional and international career after graduating from the AIS Basketball Program. A community leader still playing at the NBL1 level, he will join colleague Timmy Duggan on presenting a keynote on “How Does Hoops Heal – Leading and Mentoring Through a First Nations Lens”.

The former Cairns Taipans and Perth Wildcats star will also provide a valuable player’s lens to the Conference, sharing his experiences playing in the NBA, Europe, for the Boomers and of course his successful NBL career.

Rounding out the impressive list of presenters is respected physiotherapist Toby Conroy, who will present of “Physical Preparation for Young Players.” Conroy is the physio for the Australian Under 19 Men’s team and also headed up the physical performance area at the 20234 BA National Performance Camp.
