In conjunction with the NBA FIBA Basketball Without Borders (BWB) Asia Camp, the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence at the AIS in Canberra will play host to the FIBA NBA Coaches Clinic on Sunday, August 7 featuring guest presenters Jenni Screen, David Akinyooye and Damian Cotter.
Presented by FIBA and the NBA, this free coach development clinic provides a unique opportunity to learn from two NBA assistant coaches and a dual Olympian and will run from 2.30pm to 4pm on the day.

The clinic is open to any junior or senior representative coaches and is a free development opportunity thanks to the support of FIBA and the NBA.
The Presenters –
David Akinyooye is currently an assistant coach with the Oklahoma City Thunder after four years in a similar with the OKC Blue G-League affiliate.
A respected player development coach, Coach Akinyooye spent time with the San Antonio Spurs, as well as honing is craft internationally in the French league.
Coach brings a wealth of experience in the player development space and will be a valuable resource for the coaches attending the clinic.
Jenni Screen is a former stand-out with the Australian Women’s National team, winning FIBA World Championship gold in 2006 and Olympic silver and bronze in 2008 and 2012 respectively.
Coach Screen has made a seamless transition to coaching after a stellar 14-year professional career in Australia and Italy. She is currently High Performance Coach for Basketball Victoria and is Head Coach of the Haileybury College Girls program.
Damian Cotter is set to enter his third year as an assistant coach with the Chicago Bulls after previously serving as the Head Coach with the Windy City Bulls in the NBA G-League.
A career coach, Coach Cotter was an assistant coach with the Australian Opals at the 2016 Olympics and led the Australian Under 19 Men’s program for four years. He also coached the Sydney Kings in the NBL.
President of the FIBA World Association of Basketball Coaches and BWB Asia Camp Director Patrick Hunt said the clinic was a valuable opportunity for coaches in Canberra and surrounding regions.
“This will be an invaluable opportunity for coaches to learn from these exceptional NBA and FIBA Coaches. There will be something for Coaches at all levels,” he said.
