Functional Movement for Young Players

Basketball is slowly returning to the court in a phased approach, it is important for coaches to provide leadership for young players on the physical requirements to gradually return to the court.

Basketball Australia have released a series of protocols for the phased return to training. These protocols include advice and requirements for coaches to ensure a safe practice environment. These can be found here.

To assist coaches provide support for young players to return to practice in a safe manner, we have produced a video that outlines some of the functional movement exercises that can be used prior to each practice. These simple exercises help prepare basketball athletes for the movements that are required to train and play the game.
