Coaches Working and Learning Together Nationally

Posted on Dec 12 2022

The ongoing thirst for learning, growth and improvement are all traits of Australian coaches and some data released this week indicates that passion for development continues across all levels of coaching nationally.

Australian coaches engaged in 311 accreditation courses nationally, as well as attending 86 coach development clinics across all eight states and territories in 2022.

With the Aussie Hoops and Community Coach courses now available on-line and revamped Club, Association and Performance Coaches being introduced, coaches have flocked to courses and engaged in developing their craft and learning the latest techniques.

Coaches have also used digital and on-line resources to improve and learn, with the relaunched Building Better Basketball podcast attracting some 25,000 listeners over the year and the BA coaches web-site experiencing a 15% growth in users.

The Australian culture of sharing through clinics has continued with some 86 clinics being delivered nationally, including clinics from Opals and Boomers coaches, international presenters and coaches from the high performance pathway.

Coaches from the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence presented clinics, workshops or presentations in all areas of the country in 2022 and will continue to play a key role in coach development in 2023 and beyond.

As we transition out of the pandemic, coaches are still making use of Zoom and other tools to share information, with BA hosting a series of Zoom clinics featuring NBA, WNBA and collegiate coaches.

Thank you to all the coach developers, directors of coaching, course presenters and clinicians for a huge year of coach development and education. 2023 looks to be an even bigger year.
