Return to Train Functional Movement

With a number of states and territories impacted by Covid-19 lock downs and associated restrictions, managing the return to train and play for young athletes is an important aspect for coaches to consider.

Australian Under 19 Men’s team physiotherapist Toby Conroy put together a series of basic functional movement drills that young players can follow to ensure they can return to the court in a safe fashion once restrictions lift.

Once players and teams can return to the floor, coaches should consider incorporating some of these movements into the functional warm-up to assist with keeping young players injury free. The time invested in a structured and worthwhile warm-up will be time well spent by coaches.
