Posted on Mar 05 2023

The Basketball Australia National Coaches Conference returns in 2023 after a three-year hiatus with a host of outstanding presenters already locked in for the two-day event May 1 and 2.

To be held at the Basketball Australia Centre of Excellence on the campus of Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, the conference is open to all accredited coaches and is suitable for coaches of junior representative, school and NBL1 teams, as well as development professionals and coaches from the WNBL and NBL.

The theme for this year’s event is “Athlete Focused Coaching” and will provide coaches with a range of on and off-court skills and concepts to ensure players are at the centre of all things coaching.

Australian Boomers coach Brian Goorjian headlines a quality list of presenters, with respected sports leadership expert Elizabeth Masen and indigenous leader Timmy Duggan set to share their expertise at the event.

The conference will include a host of on-court presentations from leading coaches, three keynote addresses and a series of “break out” presentations tailored to provide learning and information to a wide sphere of Australian coaches.

Registration for the 2023 Basketball Australian National Coaches Conference is now open, with a special “early bird” discount available. Coaches will receive a special Basketball Australia coaching notebook, all conference sessions, an event program and detailed notes post-conference, plus morning tea, lunch and refreshments each day.

There will also be a networking and social evening on Monday, May 1 and this is included in the registration price.

There is limited “dorm-style” accommodation available at the Australian Institute of Sport and this can be purchased through the same registration link. Once the allocation of rooms has been exhausted, there will be no more rooms made available and attending coaches will need to source their own off-site accommodation.

The “early bird” discount price is $180 and will be available until March 17. From that date, the cost will be $200. This does not include accommodation.

A full program and list of presenters will be available in the coming days. To register for the conference, click here.
