Schedule Announced for National Coaches Conference

The Basketball Australia National Coaches Conference will be held at the Australian Institute of Sport on May 1 & 2 and the schedule for the event has been confirmed.

The Conference will be headlined by on-court presentation from legendary Australian Boomers head coach Brian Goorjian and include key-note presentations from respected sporting leaders  Liz Masen and Timmy Duggan.

Adding to an impressive line-up of presenters are Janna Mizens, Adam Forde and Jacob Jackomas, along with NBA Global Academy assistant coach and player development expert Matt Blue. Blue will be replacing Kristen Veal, who will be unfortunately unavailable.

The Conference will combine on-court presentations, with high level key-notes and a series of break-out sessions for coaches to share concepts and ideas. The schedule for the May 1 and 2 conference is –

Monday, May 1 –

• 10.30am Keynote 1 Timmy Duggan – “How Does Hoops Heal – Leading & Mentoring Through a First Nations Lens”
• 11.45am Brian Goorjian, (Australian Boomers)- Cutting and Offensive concepts
• 1.15pm Lunch
• 1.45pm Matt Blue (NBA Global Academy) – Skill Development
• 2.45pm Jacob Jackomas (Illawarra Hawks) – Zone Defence
• 4pm Afternoon tea
• 4.15pm Janna Mizens (Basketball Australia)- Coaching wheelchair basketball
• 5.20pm – Leadership panel discussion – Jan Stirling, Liz Masen, Brian Goorjian
• 5.50pm Review and close
• 7pm Social and networking function – The Duxton Hotel
